Acupuncture and Low Libido in Men

Acupuncture has been practice for thousands of years and it has been used to optimize sexual health in both men and women for several centuries. Traditional Chinese Medicine can play a role in enhancing men’s sexual drive and there have been several studies that indicate that acupuncture can help to enhance sexual desire and to help to increase men and women’s libido. Sexual health is as important as the general health of the body and ignoring the fact is not a good sign. It is important to treat health conditions like low libido in the earlier stages, however, most of the time men feel embarrassed and do not seek professional advice to aid in treating this condition. Loss of libido can indicate that there may be some underlying factors involved and it is important to restore sexual desire for a healthy marital life.

When we are dealing with low libido, we need to analyze what is causing this problem because there can be various underlying physical and emotional issues which can cause you to lose interest in a physical relationship. This condition can be caused due to extreme stress, tragedy, relocating to a new area, change of job, the birth of a baby, period after a major operation, experiencing pain during intercourse or the failure to reach orgasm. Traditional Chinese Medicine is a good form of treatment for low libido in men with the use of acupuncture and Chinese herbs. Low libido can be due to an imbalance of Qi or energy which can likely be to do with the kidneys. After a careful analysis and diagnosis, then specific points are selected to treat the cause of your condition and not just the symptoms which can help to restore your sexual function back to normal.

TCM is not only used to treat low libido but it can be used for treating a number of other sexual health problems with the combination of acupuncture and herbs. It is effective in the treatment of infertility, premature ejaculation, low sperm count, low sperm mobility and impotence. The increasing percentage of people who are turning to TCM for help is partly due to the low risks of side effects or adverse reaction in this treatment method. Another important reason for selecting acupuncture is the fact that it treats you as a whole. Acupuncture treats the root cause of the condition not just to manage the symptoms.

Most men can be shy to talk about their libido problems and can be humiliated to talk about it; however, we all must understand it is nothing more than a health issue. It is important to understand your body and the only way you can find a solution to low libido is to take it up with a GP or health practitioner. Keeping the problem to yourself will not help you as you may not be able to find the solution to this health condition by yourself.
